my trip out to penrose - practise train photos

on Tuesday the 6 of the 5 2015 i went on what i thought was going to be a quick trip out to penrose to pick up a parcel well this trip ended up taking 5 hours. getting to penrose was easy i walked from my house to train station i took some pictures of homi station that was OK except for my lens hood which keep ed gating in all of my photos so i took that of and that was all good hopped on the train to penrose when i got to penrose i didn't have time to stop as i really needed a drink so off we went (my sister was with me ) now i go to penrose a bit to pick up parcels i thought i knew where to go but when i got to where i thought i needed to be  it was the wrong courier so i got google maps on and well after getting lost 3 times using google (going down wrong roads making wrong turns and for some reason cutting through mt smart stadium ) and about 2 hours of walking i asked a local where it was and to make me madder than i already was it was only half an hours walk from the train station in the other direction lol so we found our way there from those directions finally got to courrier place got my parcel and because i'm impatient  i decided to open the parcel big mistake gristly it wasn't what i had ordered i had ordered a reflector set when i opened it up it was a light tent now the next problem i couldnt fold the light tent after both me and my sister trying to fold this thing back into its bag we gave up and just carried it which was fun in itself as it was a bit windy .we got back to the train station by this time i was so tired i only did a couple quick photos then hopped on the train home .

here are some of the photos i took

homi station before

with this photo  i kind of went mad with the temperature slider and vibrancy slider trying to get every thing right in this picture till i went crazy and gave up i went back to this picture when i was sane  and used the adjustment brush instead of the sliders it worked out much better

i wanted to brighten and add some vibrancy to this photo but i went to far with the greens and the yellows but the leading lines are really nice with how they disappear into the distance

i just wanted to put this one into black and white  to see if it would work but i dont like it it just doesn't work with this picture

  1. You have made a good start on posting the images you have been taking for your portfolio project Stephanie. Continue to post photos from each shoot with comments on your ideas about your project and on your approach to photographing the train stations. You also need to post your image research. Choose a few each photographer's photos you have been looking at to put onto your blog with comments about what you like about these photos and what ideas and techniques you can take from these images to incorporate into your own work.

  2. Don't forget to evaluate the above images. Comment on what is working in these photos. Anything that may not be working and anything different you did in the next shoot. What does converting to B&W do to these images? Do you prefer the black and white or the colour?
